Sony has submitted its patents for the new PlayStation 5 (PS5) DualShock controller to the Japanese patent office. The DualShock 5 in the patent has almost the same design as the PS4’s controller.
The new PS5 DualShock comes with a few changes. It includes a USB port, larger triggers and smaller sticks. However, at first glance at the squares, you may have a hard time seeing the difference between the two.
The general layout in DualShock is almost the same as before. The large touchpad also remains in place. Sony was dreaming of adding new functions for games to the touchpad, but unfortunately this did not come true.
Sony has previously said that the controller will come with adaptive triggers. Especially when playing games, the trigger buttons will have different resistance levels. It will be added to the games at the request of the developers and will react differently when stretching a bow before shooting arrows or on various weapons. The haptic feedback will also bring surprising effects to the gaming experience and make you feel different on challenging tracks.
The PlayStation 5 will be available at the end of 2020.
