Bandwidth will no longer be a problem with Intel’s APD technology

Teknoblog.com – The tales of disaster told that the bandwidth will not be enough in the future can be overcome with a new bandwidth breakthrough. Researchers at Intel are busy testing the silicon-based Avalanche Photo Detector (APD) technology. The results so far are also very promising.

APD can reach speeds of 340 GHz, or in other words it achieves the best “gain-bandwidth multiplier”. This new invention is expected to significantly lower the price of 40 Gbit/s optical links. It is also expected to be used in quantum cryptology, biochip, and chip-to-chip or on-chip connections. Perhaps most importantly, this new invention may allow further development of the entertainment infrastructure, and IPTV broadcasts can gain momentum with the increase in bandwidth.
