CNET reports that Bluetooth 2.2 will come to light in mid-2009. The new protocol is designed to work with WiFi and UWB. The version that works with WiFi is called Bluetooth 10x, the version that works with the protocol that supports UWB, that is, faster wireless broadband, is called Bluetooth 100x. Bluetooth 10x is expected to be widely used in the first place, as many devices already have WiFi.
This new Bluetooth version will expand the range of motion for personal media device and mobile device manufacturers, thanks to this new protocol, fluid media support will increase, and transfer of larger files will be accelerated. On the other hand, this new specification may cause an increase in viruses that will spread via Bluetooth.
