There has been a development in Turkey with the “permanent daylight saving time application”, which is highly discussed, especially in the social media.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez, in his statement, stated that there is no work to abolish this practice.

The savings achieved since the start of the implementation is approximately 6.82 billion kWh, and the monetary equivalent of this savings is 3.97 billion TL according to the one-time tariff and 5.94 billion TL according to the three-time tariff .
However, the single hour application will be implemented by the EU commission in member states as of 28 March 2021. Two recommendations have been submitted, and member states will take their own decisions in this regard. In line with all these developments, our ministry does not have any work to change the current clock application.
