It can be shocking to realize that desktop icons and some special icons have disappeared in Windows. This could be because you accidentally removed the icons or a malware infects the desktop icons. We solve this problem in different ways!
1. Method: Restore Some Icons
You can easily restore desktop icons such as My Computer, Recycle Bin, Network, User Files, and Control Panel. For this, we right click on the desktop and go to Personalization.
Click on Change desktop icons on the left.
In the window that opens, you can mark the options in the Desktop icons section and click the Apply button.
2. Method: Show Desktop Icons Option
After right-clicking on the desktop, we follow the View > Show desktop items steps, respectively. If there is no tick next to this option, your desktop icons will be back when you follow these steps.
3. Method 2: Restarting Windows Explorer
Malware can sometimes terminate Windows Explorer, disrupting the computer’s operation. Restarting this application can also sometimes provide useful results.
We start Task Manager from the shortcut by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard.
Follow the steps of File > New Task from the menu above.
Fill the blank text in the dialog box that opens explorer.exe and press the OK button. This will restart Windows Explorer and restore the missing icons.
If the methods we described above did not work, we recommend scanning your computer using various antivirus software.. If there is malware that plays a role in the emergence of this problem, it will be cleaned by being caught on the radar of these applications.. If you have suggestions in addition to the methods we have described, you can share them with us in the comments section.
